Adegoke Adelabu Slams Nigeria’s Male for not winning an award at the CAF Ceremony.

Ex-Eagles player and former shooting star attacker, Adegoke Adelabu has come out to say that failure of the Nigerian male players not winning an award at the 2019 CAF Awards ceremony in Egypt on Tuesday night was something shameful to the Nigerian football, Bsnsports.com.ng understands.
Nigeria didn’t leave the event empty handed even as Super Falcon Player, Asisat Oshoala won the African Woman Player of the Year for the fourth time and also becoming the only person from the Nigerian side to win an award at the ceremony, but it was a different story at the side of the male category and other aspects that Nigeria was nominated for awards, even as they were all sidelined by their counterpart.
Super Eagles duo Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen who were tipped to become favourite for the Young Player of the Year award, both Lost to Achraf Hakimi of Morocco.
The super Falcons of Nigeria was tipped for the award of the Women’s National Team of the Year; and also former Super Falcons’ coach, Thomas Dennerby was in contention for the awards after being nominated for the Women’s Coach of the Year for his work with the Super Falcons.
Nigerian players also Miss out of the CAF first eleven team.
Adelabu speaking yesterday Said: “This show that our players are not improving. Something must be done.”
Adelabu said: “If we cannot dominate the world, we have to take the lead in African football. This is part of the reasons why I am advocating for the presidential council for sports. We must be ready to organize our sports in such a way that it will meet international standard of practice,” he stated.
Sports analysts has questioned the decision of CAF as to why the Super Falcons didn’t win the award for the Women’s National Team of the Year, having a successful year retaining their continental crown in Ghana in December 2018 and reached the knockout stage of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
South Africa’s Banyana Banyana got the award, while their coach Desiree Ellis was voted the woman coach of the Year.
