Umenwa Chikezie made it 13 goals for his club, Aspire FC, with a screamer against Yobe Desert Stars in their Aiteo Cup first round game in Abuja.
The Nigerian prodigy entered the match against the NPFL opponents having scored 12 goals in different competition this season.
And when his side went 1-0 down at the FIFA Goal Project Abuja, he wouldn’t have been impressed and believed he needed to do something to salvage his team from losing.
In fact, he probably would have won the game for his team but for the more experienced players from the opposing side.
However, his 35 yards shot that unsettled the opponent goalkeeper before the ball landed at the far corner of the post that turned the whole stadium into celebration should be considered as Aiteo Cup goal of the tournament.
Umenwa picked up the ball outside the box, beat a defender and smashed the ball home with his strong right foot.
Interestingly, the opposing team gave him a standing ovation clapping their hands celebrating the wonderful strike before they came back in the second half to score two goals and ended it with a 3-1 win over Aspire FC.
