By Sampson Adedeji

The Nigeria athletics duo of Blessing Okagbare and Divine Oduduru will begin their 2021 athletics season in the United States of America, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Oduduru had qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games in both the 100m and 200m events after ruling the collegiate circuits last year. He was looking forward to making a bold step in Tokyo before the Games was moved to 2021 due the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

Okagbare in 2018, running in the 200m race at the Wes Kittley Invitational Track and Field Meet at the Abilene Christian University, Okagbare ran an impressive 22.04 seconds and beat the previous African record of 22.07 seconds set by Mary Onyali in 1996 – 22 years ago

Okagbare also beat her previous personal record of 22.23 seconds she set in the 2014 Eugene Diamond League.

Both of them were listed by Athletics governing body on Friday for the American Track Event that will take on Sunday in the United States.

Oduduru was listed in the Heat 1 of men race while Okagbare was listed in the Heat 2 of the women events.
