By Sampson Adedeji
Despites getting 6 points of Nigeria’s sole representative in the CAF confederation cup, Etoile Due Sahel coach Roger Lamerre has stated that Enugu Rangers can still go through to knockout stages
Etoile du Sahel two goals from Maher Hannerchi and Mohammed Msakni was enough for the visitors to defeat Rangers 0-2 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe stadium on Sunday.
While speaking with BSN Sports, the French gaffer despite the 2-0 win admitted that it was a difficult game against Flying Antelopes.
“Etoile Due Sahel came to Nigeria and we played our game, it wasn’t an easy one for us and it was very difficult but we played our game and we scored goals and with the way Rangers are playing tbey can still qualify from the group.
Roger Lamerre speaking about his tactic he used against Rangers said the game was won by their level of preparation and not tactics.
“It was not a matter of tactics but it is a matter of playing the game, we prepared ourselves and we came and played the game.
“Yes we played 2-6-1, it was a middle game and with that we are able to win the game .
“It is not just 2 matches, we have played 4 matches and we won all the matches but for now we are good and at a time, we are not saying that its the end of the game but there is other matches to play that means Rangers can still come up while we can equally fail to progress, so nothing is really certain for now, he stated.
“Etoile will return home to face its compatriots CS Sfaxien who defeated them in the match day one of the competition.”
