Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Barrister Solomon Dalung on Friday in Abuja warned that any sports federation that fail to comply with the ministry’s democratization process will be dissolved, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Dalung made this known in a two-day sports ministry’s meeting with all sports federations in Nigeria, titled ‘Honourable Minister’s Meeting With Sports Federation’s Presidents, Technical Director And Secretaries’ Area 11, Garki, Abuja.
The meeting which among others is to encourage sports federation to start preparation in earnest ahead of the 2019 All African Games in Morocco as well as urging federations to have their Annual General Meeting.
He urged all sports federations that have not conducted their Annual General Meeting for ratifying of the federation’s constitution to do so in a short while.
Dalung hinted that the ministry will remove the clause of ‘life president’ in any federations’ constitution as according to him, such act is undemocratic and will not be encouraged by the ministry.
The Plateau state born minister stated that any federation that failed to comply with the ministry directive on democratization will be dissolved.
“Federations which fail to comply with the ministry’s democratization process have automatically applied for dissolution.” He said.
