AFCON 2019: Aguirre sacked, as Egypt FA president resigns

Egypt Football Association president Hani Abou Rida has resigned after the hosts lost 0-1 to South Africa on Saturday in the Round of 16 at the ongoing 2019 African Nations Cup in Egypt, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The 0-1 shocking defeat of host Pharaoh of Egypt to Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Cairo stadium, also led to the sacking of Egyptian coach Javier Aguirre .
South Africa pipped the host in a keenly contested encounter at the Cairo international stadium to the amazement of the roaring crowd.
Aguirre was sacked alongside his technical crew, the announcement came few hours after the shocking defeat.
Meanwhile, FA boss Hani Abou Rida has tendered his resignation letter .
The respected administrator threw in the towel two hours after the host country was shockingly eliminated by underdogs in Cairo on Saturday night despite the massive home support.
Abu Rida stressed that it is his national responsibility to continue to chair the organizing committee until the end of the tournament because success in the organization was from the beginning to the end to achieve secure a good reputation for Egypt.
