Former Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker Odion Jude Ighalo became an hero on Thursday night as he opened his goal account for the English premier league giant Manchester United.

Ighalo who joined the Red Devils on a deadline day transfer started his first match for the club against Club Brugge in the UEFA Europa League and was able to registered his name on the scorer sheet, BSN Reports.

United triumphed 5-0 and it was former Watford man that netted the opening goal in the encounter played at Old Trafford Stadium.

The team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjear heaped praises on the striker and believed that Ighalo can actually offer what is missing in the team.

‘When you have a striker in [Ighalo]…he does what it says on the tin,’ said Solskjaer.

He plays up front. We can play up to him, he can get hold of it but the goal was a good example of what you want from Odion.

The ball goes over him, he spins quickly, gets himself of the centre back and taps it in. It’s what we’ve been lacking a little bit.’

Ighalo could keep his place in the starting XI for Sunday’s trip to Everton as Anthony Martial is a doubt with a thigh injury.
