Former MFM FC of Lagos forward, Stephen Odey is said to have been demoted to the youth team of KRC Genk, can report.

According to owngoal Nigeria, Odey was told he is surplus to requirements at the Belgium side upon his return from a loan spell in France.

With Onuachu departure from Genk imminent, Odey was initially tipped to be among those to be considered as potential replacement for him but with Genk going for another Nigerian (Ike Ugbo), it definitely mean no place for the former NPFL star man.

Ugbo whose deal will be finalised in days to come will compete for the top 9 role against another Nigerian, Cyriel Desser as Stephen Odey has been told her can leave.

Scored six times in 28 appearances on loan for Amiens in the French Ligue 2 last season, the tally according to Genk is not good enough to even get him a space in the club’s pre-season team and as a result have been relegated to the B team alongside Sebastien Dewaest and Ivan Fiolic
