Ibom Cricket league opens with VIP bowl off
The 2021 edition of Ibom Cricket league started last Saturday with top players from Rivers State league and a State executive members taking the bowl off ceremony.
The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Environment and Solid Minerals, Sir Charles Udoh was at Four Towns Secondary School Cricket pitch to bowl off the new Cricket league in Uyo.
Sir Charles Udoh who has been playing football and lover of sports said he was impressed with the level of progress in Cricket in the state. ” I came to honor this legendary game as it has offered our youths the opportunity to excel and shun social vices”
The State exco member and corporate branding guru for top Nigerian financial houses promised to support the Cricket game with some kits including bats and balls.
Also five foreign players from Rivers State Cricket league joined the four teams and more are expected to add flavor and excitement as the league progresses.
In the first match Blue Diamond Cricket Club lost to foreign based star studded Ultimate Cricket Club by 9 wickets.
