The Nigerian Female Cricket team has secured the last semifinals ticket as they defeated Botswana team by 3 wickets.

On Thursday’s second match at Gahanga Cricket Stadium, Kigali, Botswana girls batted first as Nigeria who won toss choose to fielding.

The Botswana batters were slowed down by Nigerian bowlers with early dismissals that kept pressure on Botswana. Blessing Etim and Mary Desmond both took 2 wickets as the Nigerian girls fought hard for the last semifinals slot.

Despite the stronger bowling force of Nigerian girls, Botswana’s Amantle Mokgotlhe scored the match highest runs 36 off 28 balls and her compatriot young Botsogo Mpedi played 20 runs to give Botswana total of 106 runs and loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

The second innings saw African giant Captain, Samantha Agazuma rise to occasion. She batted the team’s highest runs, 23 off 29 balls. The match MVP, Blessing Etim followed up with 14 runs while her 2 dismissals voted her Man of the match. Also, the dedicated Salome Sunday scored 12 runs off 9 balls to keep Nigeria’s best strike rate in the competition and tally.

Nigerian girls determination took them to a deserving victory with great chase on target as they scored 108 runs beating Botswana’s 106 to quantify for the tournament semifinals.

Qualified teams for the Rwanda genocide commemorative tournament semis include table toppers, Namibia with 8 points, Kenya 6 points, Rwanda 4 points and Nigerian with 2 points.

Draws and match schedules for the four semifinals team will be conducted later today.
