Algeria head coach Vladimir Pletikovic has openly admitted that Nigeria deserved their victory over the Desert Foxes in the quarter-final of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Super Eagles produced a dominant display to defeat Algeria 2-0 on Saturday in Marrakech, booking their place in the semi-finals of the tournament at the expense of the North Africans.

Reacting after the encounter, Pletikovic conceded that his side struggled to cope with Nigeria’s intensity and quality throughout the game.

“Do I have to tell the truth or should I be political about the match? Nigeria deserved to win this match. They were better than us,” the Algerian coach said.

“It was difficult to get into this match. We were hit left and right, and Nigeria imposed themselves on us from the start.”

Nigeria’s superiority was evident, particularly in the second half, as they controlled possession, created the clearer chances, and converted two of them to seal a comfortable win.

The result brings an end to Algeria’s AFCON 2025 campaign, while Nigeria will now turn their attention to a semi-final showdown as they continue their quest for continental glory.
