Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho was the hero on Sunday in Liberia as his late strike qualified Nigeria's Super Eagles to the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian side took total control of the game from the blast of the whistle and Napoli forward Victor Osimhen continued his scoring prowess.

He put Nigeria ahead in the 19th minute and added the second goal a few minutes later, Mustapha Bundu halved the deficit for the Leone Stars just before halftime.

The host Sierra Leone showed a tremendous improvement in the second half and controlled the game.

Augustus Kargbo equalised for them towards the tail end of the encounter before substitute Iheanacho scored the winning goal and earned Super Eagle the qualifying ticket.

Guinea Bissau dropped to the second spot after Nigeria won but qualified for the biennial tournament for the 4th consecutive time.
