AFCON 2025: Chelle Condemns Transport Arrangements, Says It Gives Hosts Advantage

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, has criticised the transportation and logistical arrangements at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, describing them as unfair and advantageous to host nation Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Chelle voiced his concerns after Nigeria’s recent outing, noting that several participating teams have been subjected to long and exhausting road journeys due to the absence of domestic flight options.

According to the Malian tactician, such conditions place unnecessary physical and mental strain on players during a highly competitive tournament.

“The logistics have not been balanced,” Chelle said.

“Some teams are forced to travel long hours by bus between match venues, which affects preparation and recovery. At this level of competition, these factors matter a lot.”

The Super Eagles coach contrasted this situation with that of the host nation, pointing out that Morocco’s Atlas Lions have played all their matches in Rabat, eliminating the need for extensive travel.

“Morocco have played all their games in the same city, in Rabat. That is clearly an advantage,” Chelle added.

“When one team enjoys stability and comfort while others are constantly on the road, it affects fairness.”

Chelle stressed that while Morocco remains a strong and well-prepared side, tournament organisers must ensure equal conditions for all teams to preserve the integrity of the competition.
