Arokodare Sets Sights On Next Season After Award-Winning Campaign

Super Eagles and KRC Genk striker, Tolu Arokodare, is already focused on the upcoming season as he looks to build on a stellar campaign that saw him win the 2024/25 Ebony Shoe Award in Belgium, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 24-year-old forward, who is part of the Super Eagles squad selected by head coach Éric Chelle for the upcoming Unity Cup in London, shared his thoughts during an interview on TVC News.

Arokodare highlighted the importance of the Ebony Shoe Award, previously won by Nigerian greats such as Daniel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, and Celestine Babayaro.

He said the recognition means a lot, especially after a challenging season that ended without a title.

 “It’s amazing for me, my family, my career, my hometown, and the team. It feels good to win something, especially after a few tough games where our title hopes faded. This award gives us something to celebrate,” he said.

Reflecting on his standout season and the future, Arokodare affirmed his commitment to Genk but hinted at openness to potential transfer opportunities.

 “I’m still here. My teammates, the staff, and I are already looking forward to next season,” he stated.

 “I want to have an even better season than this one. I have a contract with Genk, and I respect that. If something comes along that’s good for both me and the club, we’ll evaluate it then.”

The Nigerian forward also expressed his desire to leave a lasting legacy beyond his on-field achievements.

“I want to be remembered as a player who stayed true to himself—from start to finish. Not just for my goals, but for my personality and the excitement I brought to the league and my time at Genk.”

Arokodare finished the season as the second-highest goal scorer in the Jupiler Pro League with 21 goals and contributed five assists, cementing his status as one of the standout performers in Belgian football.
