The head coach of Rivers Angels, Edwin Okon, has said every game in the Nigeria Women's Football League will be seen as a final, after defeating FC Robo Queens 2-0 on Matchday 1 at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba, Delta State.

BSNSports.com.ng had a run-in with the coach after the game to get his thoughts on the performance of the Angels, as the elated coach tempered his feelings after crossing the first hurdle.

"The girls are in high spirits, and in every competition, the first match matters a lot. Every match to us is a final, and we have crossed the first final today," Edwin said.

Although Emmanuel Osahon who is the head coach of the opposing team, FC Robo Queens complained about the weather, Edwin had no issues with the venue.

Emmanuel said; "the weather in this part of Nigeria is not favorable to those of us coming from the other part of the country. It has been a rain ball affair, and we are not used to that in Lagos."

But Edwin felt different after responding to the same question; "The playing turf is okay, and there were no issues with the field.

"About the format of the competition, I have no issues with it, the organizers know better."

Strikes from both Chiamaka Okwuchukwu in the 36th minute, and Adaobi Okah in the 79th were enough to seal the first three points of the Super 6 playoffs for Rivers Angels, as they gear to go the distance.
