Super Eagles head coach , Jose Peseiro failed to acknowledge the role of playing pattern and tactics as well as the quality of players in a team but has said it's only God who determines a team that emerge winner in every match, BSNSportscim.ng 

At the post-match conference after a 1-1 draw between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, the Portuguese international was asked about what he feels about the result. He responded by saying that the result was dependent on God.

"God gives and God takes, hopefully, God gives us the match."

Nigeria dominated from the start but were caught on the counter in the 36th minute when José Machín set up Iban Salvador to put Equatorial Guinea ahead.

The Super Eagles came back into the immediately when Ademola Lookman’s deflected cross dropped kindly for Victor Osimhen who headed the ball into the net. Nigeria had their chance at the post through Moses Simon but were unable to get any more goals despite intense pressure.

Afterwards, the Super Eagles lost many begging scoring chances leading to Equatorial Guinea goalkeeper winning the Man if The Match.

Nigeria will face the host, Ivory Coast on Thursday in their second group A game, a game the three times African champions must not lose.
