"I Am Ready To Go To Prison" - Kano Pillars Coach Reacts To NNL Super 8 Officiating

By Gbenga Gboyega

Kano Pillars head Coach, Evans Ogenyi has labelled the just concluded Nigeria National League Super 8 Playoffs in Asaba as being manipulated by the match officials, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Kano Pillars alongside Katsina United both secured promotions to next season's Nigeria Premier League representing the Northern conference, however, Ogenyi questioned the officiating of the matches saying he's ready to say it anywhere that the matches were being manipulated.

This is contained in the post match interview made available to BSN Sports while the coach was reacting to his team 0-1 loss to Katsina United.

"It is not in my character to talk about officiating, but I must say the decisions taken were questionable," Ogenyi replied when asked about the oficiating.

"I will say that if the officiating is not questionable I recommend that I be sent to prison," he added.

Reports from other centers in the game same Northern Conference played simultaneously between DMD FC of Maiduguri and Abuja-based EFCC FC, also stated cases of bad officiating, raising further concerns of the integrity of MatchDay events.

Both DMD and EFCC in the Northern conference failed to gain promotion as they could only muster one win from three games while losing twice each.

Evans, however, maintained that his team deserved to secure promotion regardless of the hiccups faced, as he was always confident of the eventual outcome.

"Well, I told you before today that Kano Pillars had already picked a ticket, while the other three teams will fight for the remaining.

"I believe the match was like a formality or a friendly match," he concluded.

Kano Pillars fell into relegation waters two seasons ago alongside Kastina United, Heartland, and Lagos-based MFM, but will be happy to return to the top tier League where they once enjoyed a quadruple of success.
