Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu has expressed satisfaction after scoring what he described as a crucial goal in Trabzonspor’s dramatic 4-3 away victory over Istanbul Basaksehir on Monday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The former Genk forward converted a vital penalty in the 76th minute to draw his team level at 2-2, sparking a comeback that saw Trabzonspor eventually secure all three points.
Speaking after the encounter, Onuachu admitted that although his playing style did not fully come into play during the match, the importance of his goal could not be overstated.
“Basaksehir FK were one man down; as a striker there’s not much to do. You just have to find spaces to get a goal for your team,” he said.
“My playing style didn’t really come into the game, but I scored a crucial penalty at that moment.” The Super Eagles forward stressed the significance of the hard-fought victory.
“It’s always good to win. We are happy with the three points but there’s more work to do.
“I am just happy for the three points. They played well even though they were a man down. At the end of the day, we fought back and got the three points.”
Onuachu’s goal brings his league tally to nine for the season as Trabzonspor continues to push for a strong position in the Turkish Super Lig standings.
