"If It Comes, We Will Grab It" - 3SC Coach Gbenga Ogunbote Sets Sight On Double

Shooting Stars Sporting Club's coach Gbenga Ogunbote has his sight set on achieving double feat this season for his Ibadan based team, with the 3SC featuring in the 2023 Federation Cup Round of 64, and only four points away from Super Six qualification in the 2023 Abridged NPFL, BSNSports.com.ng understands.

BSN Sports that Shooting Stars have endured a mid-performance campaign domestically, with five wins and six draws from 15 league games, while conceding almost as much as they've scored with an impoverished 1+ goal difference tally. 

However, sitting sixth position in Group A may not paint the full picture of what is at stake for 3SC who are only four points away from third-placed Enyimba on 25 points, opening the race for a shot at the top three spot with three games to play. 

Shooting Stars now have another shot at silverware in the 2023 Federation Cup organized by the Nigeria Football Federation, with their Round of 64 tie against Adamimogo FC in Lagos coming on Wednesday, the 26th of April 2023. 

While speaking to completesports.com, the sweat merchant as Coach Ogunbote is fondly called emphasised the need to take every opportunity seriously, for a chance to end the campaign on a high. 

“Come Wednesday, we will begin the battle for the Federation Cup against Adamimogo FC of Akure. The Federation Cup is a different ball game from the league, there is no little team when it comes to the competition.

“We must therefore take it very seriously. There is no second chance in Federation Cup, once you are beaten, you are out, that is why we must approach every game with all seriousness and get the job done within 90 minutes.

“The good thing about this competition is that it is an opportunity to get a continental ticket and once you can win seven matches, you are done” 

3SC have gone unbeaten in their last five league games, winning three of those including a victory at home against Plateau United, and the Oracle explained why. 

“There is no magic to it other than hard work, aside from that the players are getting used to each other and we noticed some grey areas which we tried to make amends to”.

As for qualifying for the Super Six round in the league, Ogunbote expressed open-mindedness, but refused to be pessimistic. 

"If it comes, we will take it"
