Chairman Senate Committee on Sports Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi has charged the Super Eagles not to allow distraction set in as they host Zimbabwe next Tuesday in Uyo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Two goals from Galatasaray forward, Victor Osimhen was all Super Eagles needed to pick maximum three points against Rwanda in Kigali on Friday in matchday 5 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.

The elated Senator representing Bauchi central senatorial district while congratulating and praising the players and officials of Super Eagles warned that the jubilation be cut short and focus on Tuesday's matchday 6 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier when Nigeria hosts Zimbabwe in Uyo.

"I want to congratulate all the players and officials of Super Eagles on their victory in Kigali after beating Rwanda 2-0 to get their win in the qualifier. This reignited the hopes of Nigeria flag being hoisted in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

"I want to call their attention to another important match coming up next week against Zimbabwe in Uyo. All hands must be on the deck by being focused and go into the match with same enthusiasm and commitment as they approached Rwanda game.

"With victory against Zimbabwe in Nigeria, then the dream of qualifying for the world cup is beginning to become reality." He concluded.

Despite the win, Super Eagles are placed fourth with six points while South Africa lead Group C with 10 points after recording victory against Lesotho on Friday. Benin Republic are second with 8 points as Rwanda are placed third with seven points.
