La Liga: Simeone Apologises To Lookman

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has apologised to Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman for playing him out of position during their La Liga clash against Villarreal, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Simeone admitted that Lookman was deployed in an unfamiliar role due to the absence of Alexander Sørloth through injury and Julián Alvarez still working his way back to full form.

 “I have to apologise to [Ademola] Lookman; I know that’s not his position,” Simeone said. “We needed him to help us there because Sorloth is injured and Julián is working his way back to his best form.

 “He’s a great kid and he’s working hard, but he was missing the things he enjoys most: dribbling, scoring goals, taking players on one-on-one.

“We’ll get him back to doing those things once we have our attacking players available again.” The Atletico boss praised Lookman’s attitude and indicated that the Nigerian will be restored to a more natural attacking role once the club’s attacking options are fully available.
