Ogu Sends Thank You Message To Nigerians

Former Super Eagles midfielder John Ogu has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Nigerians for the support he received during his time with the national team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The former Nigeria international took to his social media platforms to appreciate fans, football authorities, coaches, teammates, and journalists who played roles in his international career.

Ogu was part of the Super Eagles squads to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, where Nigeria finished third.

Reflecting on his journey, the midfielder acknowledged the unwavering backing of Nigerians despite the challenges he faced while representing the country.

 “I just remembered I have not thanked Nigerians for their support towards me during my time representing my darling country. I really do appreciate the support and love shown. There were many ups and downs, but your support was immense. God bless Nigeria, God bless the Super Eagles,” Ogu wrote.

He also paid tribute to the Nigeria Football Federation, late former Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi, and former head coach Gernot Rohr for believing in him.

"I know it’s been years now, but I just want to say it was an honour to represent you guys and to fight for my country. I would like to thank the NFF, late Stephen Keshi, and Rohr for believing in me. To my ex-teammates, I love you all. God bless you all,” he added.

Ogu further extended his appreciation to Nigerian journalists for their role in shaping his career.

“To every journalist, my journey with the Super Eagles wouldn’t have been smooth without mentioning all your efforts and work to see me be a better player. Thank you for the wonderful job and the sacrifices you put in to make Nigeria and our players be up there in world football,” he said.

John Ogu earned 26 caps for Nigeria during his international career, scoring one goal for the Super Eagles.
