‘We Defended Well Against Osimhen’ — Tedesco Hails Back Line After 1–1 Draw

Fenerbahçe manager Domenico Tedesco has praised his defensive unit for successfully neutralising Victor Osimhen during Monday night’s heated Istanbul derby against Galatasaray, which ended in a 1–1 draw at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Osimhen, one of Galatasaray’s most potent attacking threats, found it difficult to influence proceedings as Fenerbahçe’s back line marshalled by captain Milan Škriniar kept him under tight control throughout the encounter. The Nigerian striker, who worked tirelessly upfront, was substituted in the 89th minute for Mauro Icardi.
Germany international Leroy Sané opened the scoring for Galatasaray in the 27th minute with a deflected strike that left Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Livaković wrong-footed. However, the hosts fought back and were rewarded in stoppage time when substitute John Durán fired home a dramatic late equaliser to salvage a point for the Yellow Canaries.
Speaking after the match, Tedesco commended his players for their discipline and concentration, highlighting their ability to limit Osimhen’s effectiveness.
“We defended very well against Osimhen,” Tedesco said. “He is a top striker, very dangerous, but the team stayed organised and focused. Our defensive structure made the difference.”
The result keeps the title race in the Turkish Super Lig finely poised as both giants continue their push for domestic supremacy.
