By Gbenga Gboyega
The Pride of Rivers touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Lagos from Dar es Salaam on board Ethiopian Airline at 12:43 pm Nigerian time on Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The information was posted via the team's official Twitter handle, with a selfie of the team on a coaster while in transit from the international airport, with the caption "BACK TO BASE... We are Rivers United FC".
Fans of the club lobbied on the page to welcome their favorites, although, with mixed feelings as some geared the team, while others scorned their loss.
@OgaSammyWejinya on Twitter: "Welcome back lads, Keep your chin up, Now, let's win the double, We are United, We are #RUFC"
@Goddyxclussive1 on Twitter: "You are welcome again in 🇹🇿 with more dramas, you’ll keep living all your points with us. All the best in your home league. We are always bigger @yangasc1935 #wananchi 🔰ðŸ™"
@Becks_Njoku on Twitter: "Welcome home guys, next season we go again 🦾â¤ï¸ðŸ¥‚"
Others highlighted the reasons for the team's exit from the CAF Confederation Cup.
@maLinyi on Twitter: "You lost the first leg game cheaply n let Yanga proceed...Congrats on the die-hard mentality you have shown at Mkapa stadium."
@LifetimeAyo on Twitter: "Welcome home, guys. One thing I noticed from the tie is the YA home fans. They turned up for their boys and I am sure it will affect them mentally to perform better. Turn up of Rivers' home fans was very poor. We need more publicity for Nigerian club football."
Rivers United returns to the NPFL having played three games less than others, and will look to resume from where they left off, for a shot at the top three spots, where Abia Warriors, Doma United, and Lobi Stars occupy as it stands.
