"Why DavNotch Tennis Open Will Be My Last Tournament In Nigeria" - Oyinlomo

Winner of Women's Singles in the just-concluded 2nd DavNotch Tennis Open, Oyinlomo Quadre has stated that the tourney will be the last she will participate in Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Elated Oyinlomo who also won the Women's Doubles in the tournament said she has to prioritise the WTA and Billing Jean King Cup over Nigeria tourneys.

"I think this (DavNotch Tennis Open) may be the last tournament i will play in Nigeria because I have said that I will never prioritise Nigeria tournament which what i did last year if it does not match Up With my schedule. So, I dont have a goal to continue winning this tournament.

She continued, "In a month's time i will be busy with WTA Circuit. I will play for Nigeria in the Billing Jean King Cup which is why I am in Nigeria to get the Visa to play WTA Circuit in Italy and also, I will be playing in Montenegro where the Billing Jean King Cup will hold. Preparation wise we have a lot of work to do as you can see i am already considering not being in the second tournament which CBN Tennis Open because right I should be in clay court practising because it is a different ball game. I have enough time to prepare because I had exams and so I feel like preparing for this year edition but lets hope one week will be more than enough to prepare.

"The WTA Circuit is my ultimate priority for now which comes Up May 30, 2022. 

Speaking after winning the Womens Singles in Saturday, Quadre said she was not whether beating Edwards Marylove who is Nigeria Number 1 will be enough to place in Number 1 position.

"I feel very happy but I am not sure If I am back to Number 1 yet because this is a tournament I won last year, so, its just like defending my point. I am really happy winning it because it is one of the most difficult tournament in Nigeria. Mentally I had to win a lot of matches because physically I was not in my 100% 

I have a lot of things going on outside tennis so most times to win matches i have to rely on my mental strength.

"We can say that the semi-final match was tougher because the person i played was at her best and i wasnt playing as i should and that made it very difficult but today in the final that was not the case at all and i think that was good for me.

"Billing Jean King Cup will hold on June 6 in Montenegro. We play in this tournament last year where i played amazing and tough matches i played Against girls rated between 200 and 300 WTA, So, i am hoping we can qualify from with Team efforts and in Italy i am hoping i should qualify first because it is my first 60 K tournament. Its a very big event." She concluded.
