"Do Your Research Well Before You Speak" - Eguavoen To Media Practitioners By Omolagba Oluwayemi Ahead of the upcoming friendly match against México, Technical Director Nigeria Football Federation, Austin Eguavoen who will be in the dug out as the coach of the Super Eagles when they take on El Tri has taken his time to explain to the public the reason behind their choices of players, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The former Super Eagles handler while speaking to the media explained how difficult it was for them to make the selections within a very short time and how he went about contacting coaches and colleagues in the league for information about players. "It was a bit difficult assembling this team as information got to us late but even at that, it's our own. Have been to few league games, NPFL, NNL and even the NLO where I'd pencilled down a lot of players and also I had to rely on information from coaches that I know in the league," he said. It wasn't easy "It wasn't that easy because have seen a lot of criticism from the pages of newspapers and ofcourse electronic media as well but it's okay. The only thing is that people have to do their research first before they speak, everybody is entitled to his or her opinion so it's not a problem at all. "Coach Paul saw some games in the league, I saw some games in the continent and in the league as well and I relied also on a lot of my colleagues that are also in the league. "When you give me a player from Enyimba, I ask from Stanley Eguma, I ask Bosso, I ask Salisu, I ask Makaiba so if three out these speaks well of a player, it's okay. "When you give me a player from Plateau, I deviates from Makaiba and ask other coaches and when they say positive things about these players, I felt that's the right way to go about it." "As at yesterday I spoke with Salisu, this morning with Bosso, Makaiba as well, they can testify. Everybody can't come in at the same time, my apologies. "There is one player that is not here that I really feel a little bit worried and that is Olisema. He was my player in Gombe, I know him in and out but in this position we have a lot of players. "Olorunleke for example, his passport is not there but he didn't tell us in time and people talked about him not being included. He is on the list, Olisema is on the list and host of other players. "We submitted about 35 names but we have to cut it down because of the process of getting visas. The American Embassy wanted some certain numbers of players to be submitted at a certain at a certain date so it was a bit difficult but however we've gotten there and they're still more games to come and there everybody will have equal opportunity." Everybody will have equal opportunities "This is only game one, other games will come. I might not be the next coach but this is actually Eagles. The other guys are busy now and CHAN competitions will come, everybody will have equal opportunities. "But if we have left some players out this time, they shouldn't feel so bad, and before people do or say something they should do their research." It's been quite impressive "It's been quite impressive like I told them this morning. First thing first, they all look fit and because they are still in season which is a big advantage to us and hopefully two or three are in their way." "We tried to work on transition this morning because football is in phases and with the experience we have with them morning, I think it's quite impressive, they're catching up, nothing to worry about." The Super Eagles of Nigeria will file out against México July 3 at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
