Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu said that he was unhappy after injury stopped him from being member of the Super Eagles to the FIFA World Cup in France, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Ike while speaking with BSN Sports on Nigeria foremost WhatsApp platform, Family United By Football (FUBF) said the France '98 miss was the second time he missed representing Nigeria at the World Cup having been dropped in Holland during preparations ahead of the World Cup in the USA in 1994.

"Well, I take it as my destiny, because in 1994 I was with the Super Eagles in Holland for preparations towards World Cup in the USA. That would have been my first appearance at the world cup as the youngest goalkeeper then but i was dropped." Ike told BSN Sports

Ike Anobi, as he is fondly called by his admirers rued missing the France 98 World Cup saying many clubs who were interested in signing him could not due to non appearance at the world cup.

"And in 1998 that I thought that I will be the goalkeeper for Nigeria at the world cup, I got injured. Initially, I felt pained because there were offers on the way for me and may be my destiny is not to be among the set of players that represented Nigeria in France 98.
But thank God, I was among the players that made it to the 2002 World Cup. The most important thing is that i appeared at the world cup.

Shorunmu who didn't win the African Nations Cup title as a player for the Super Eagles led Nigeria to win the gold medal in 2013 as goalkeeper trainer.
