"I Am Into Football To Make Money" - FC One Rocket Proprietor

The proprietor of new Nigeria National League (NNL) side FC One Rockets,Right Honourable Otuekong Nse Essien has singled out money-making as his objective for venturing into the football business.

Rt Hon Essien made this known on a live radio show: "Sports Extravaganza" on XL106.9FM,Uyo last weekend.

"I am into football to make money. I am not doing an empowerment program.

It is not government funds so, I need to get it right."

Indomitable, as he is fondly called,also added that he is confident FC One Rockets have the personnel to set the team on the path of success.

"I am doing business…I am ready. If I wasn't ready,I wouldn't put my money there.

"I need to get it right from my technical crew. I have given contracts to people who have seen football at the highest level. The head coach of the team (Emmanuel King) is formerly of Dakkada;then I have a young man, Itoro,who is based in Lagos,former under 17 coach Abiodun Baruwa. I also have 2013 under 17 coordinator Abubakar Suleiman.. I am doing business. We have come here with the best players . I am ready. If I wasn't ready,I wouldn't put my money there."

Essien who represents Onna State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly further said that he is poised to use FC One Rockets to produce world beaters as he has done in the past which is why the team exists.

"My dream has always been that one day I will be in this situation that I am-owning a professional football club. By the grace of God I have a lot of young men who played for me that have played at the national team.

"One of them is Edidiong Essien (MON). I also have Aniekeme Okon "Perere",who played at the world cup last year.

"I am bringing something spectacular to football in Akwa Ibom".

Recall that in June FC One Rockets acquired the slot of Colins Edwin SC of Lagos to play in next season's Nigeria National League.

The team will join Ibom Youth and Vandrezzer FC-making it three teams from Akwa Ibom State in the NNL when the 2020/2021 campaign gets underway.
