"I Don't Know If Abiola Babes Will Stage A Comeback" Kola Abiola

Kola Abiola, son of former African Pillar of Sports, Moshood Abiola has revealed that Abiola Babes Football Club may not stage a comeback after it was disbanded in 2001, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Kola, while speaking with BSN Sports last Friday during the official unveiling of the signage at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja said the football club will not be put together as a team in Nigeria as many hope to see.

"I don't know if it will come back, it may never come back as you hope it will be, i don't know." Kola told BSN Sports

"I can't really make any comment on whether it will come back or not. If you want to see Abiola Babes, I am the Abiola Babes." He concluded.

Abiola Babes was a Nigerian football team that played in Abeokuta . It was owned by former African Pillar of Sports, Bashorun Moshood Abiola and was promoted to the
Nigeria First Division in 1984.

After a period of hiatus in the 1990s, the team reformed in May 2000 but was disbanded the following year three years after MKO Abiola's death for lack of funds.

Their last game was in the 2001 Challenge Cup against NIPOST FC.

Abiola Babes were the Nigeria 2nd Division Champions in 1983 and also won the Nigerian FA Cup two times in 1985 and 1987

The Ogun State based club were African Cup Winners Cup semifinalists in 1987 but exited the CAF competition in the first round the previous year.
