Plateau United Head Coach, Abdul Maikaba has said that he will resign if he is given the chance to lead the Nigeria's U20 national team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The former Akwa United coach stated that he would not want to get distracted by handling two teams at a time and believed he would achieve more if he concentrates on leading Nigeria Flying Eagles through their qualifiers.

In his words when speaking with Bunmi Blair on his program, said, "I can't combine the two if I'm given the national team job I will take it because you can't say no when your country call you to come and serve, if I don't, I will stay with my team and we play in the continent and in that way I will be very happy to do that but for now, i applied for the U20 national team job if given I will try and do my best to make sure I contribute my own part to the development of the game In the country.

"If I get the U20 job it means I cannot sign two contract at time, so I will quit Plateau United and represent Nigeria at the U20.

The Plateau United gaffer argued that there are players based in Nigeria that are good enough to be in the Super Eagles.

"My believe is that at anytime there must be some players that can fit in onto the super Eagles team, mostly, the super Eagles players started here some don't even play in the league, they went through age group competitions and they went to play outside Nigeria and start playing for Super Eagles, so I believe there are so many players like that in the country and with encouragement they can play for Super Eagles.

"It has happened before and I believed it can still happen now, Andrew Ikefe is a clear example of a player that can be able to play for Super Eagles. Even in the goalkeeping department, if Ezenwa can make Super Eagles team I believe there are better goalkeeper than Ezenwa, we have so many good players, also Stanley Dimgba, Victor Mbaoma." He concluded.

He stated challenges facing Nigerian coaches.

"The challenges I can say the training materials one of it, we need so many things to develop our players and I'm appealing to administrators as a matter of urgency try and equip Nigeria coaches with modern materials to do the job."

Plateau United are representing Nigeria in the CAF Champions League. However, the coach of the club, Abdul Maikaba, is among Nigerian coaches that indicated interest to be appointed as Flying Eagles head coach.
