"It's Painful To See Minister of Sports Disobeying Court Orders" - Sunday Adeleye
By Niyi Busari
Technical Director of Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, Sunday Adeleye has blamed the crisis rocking the federation on the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
Adeleye said the problem in the federation is a creation of Sunday Dare who according to him took side by recognizing Olamide George-led faction when the High Court and Appeal Court didn't. He added that the unnecessary crisis almost cost Nigeria the ticket to participate in the World Relay where the country's entries came in late after intervention of the World Athletics and the African Athletics governing body, CAA.

"You see that's where the problem is, there was a letter where the Minister said he recognised the other faction. So, that means, it's very obvious that the minister has taken side. So, it's not the problem of Ibrahim Shehu Gusau or Sunday Adeleye. It is the problem of the interest of the minister and then of course that doesn't stop us. We're in touch with our athletes.
"For example, the fall out that came out of the World Relay where entries were able to be set as Nigeria is almost out and of course, if not for the WA and CAA that came in, Nigeria would have not competed in the World Relay because we are the one that is recognised by the World Athletics and of course the WA is a respecter of rule of law. It is wrong for the Minister to recognise a faction that the court didn't. It is painful to see a minister of Federal Republic of Nigeria disobeying court order." He concluded.
