"Why We Bring Salisu Yusuf To Rangers International" - Enugu State Commissioner of Sports

By Sampson Adedeji

The commissioner for youth and Sports in Enugu state Vitus Okehi has cleared the air on the appointment of former Super Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf into the technical crew of the club.

Vitus admitted that the Flying Antelopes have quality players but lacked quality coaches to take the team to where it ought to be. According to him, Salisu Yusuf was brought in to bridge the gap in the technical department the team is lacking.

Yusuf was among the coaches named on Wednesday to take charge of the club after the dismissal of Benedict Ugwu as the team head coach.

"I need to bring fresh hands that will be able to handle these boys, not that we don't have good players but the problem is just the technical issues and of which we know with the man on ground and his experience we will be able to move the team forward." He said.

"It was after that Sunday's NPFL match that the NFF officials called us because they are interested in Rangers and this CAF Confederation cup. They don't want Rangers to stop at the group stage and they said want to send a capable hand from the Super Eagles coaching crew to come and help .

"We believed they (Rangers) are going to stay long as far as this CAF Confederation Cup is still on because the NFF are interested in seeing the Nigerian club go far in the Confederations Cup.

"There will not be clash of interest because the coaches are new and don't know any player, they will watch the players and performances then they will pick the right person because I believed their aim here is to give us results and they will do just that." He concluded.
