The president of Nigeria football federation Amaju Melvin Pinnick has explained the reason Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa got a cash reward for his achievements with the team, BSNsports.com.ng can report
Musa reached 100 caps for Nigeria in the 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifier against Cape Verde in a game Nigeria secured 1-2 away win.
The Nigeria football supremo at the end of the rewarded former Kano pillars attacker N10 million for his efforts.
Pinnick during a radio interview in Cape verde praised Musa and he further said is going to look into the FIFA angle that said former Al Nasr player is 2 games short of 100 caps.
"It's not easy to do a 100 caps for your country but Ahmed Musa has been consistent. He has demonstrated enough passion, his commitment is second to none, I have worked with other captains, Musa believed in Nigeria and love Nigeria football federation. So is just a token reward, let's other players be eager to have that 100 caps.
I'm not aware of FIFA saying is 2 games short of 100 but we will look into that, even is not easy to do 50 caps.
Our next game is against the Central African Republic home and away we hope to beat them though we are not underestimating any team once we beat them home and away we are through, the most important part is that we want to maintain our FIFA ranking which is very key that is a sweet part of this victory because if maintain your ranking in the first 5, these will face the next 5, which means we will avoid countries like Algeria, Senegal, Tunisia and Morocco," he said.
