11 Debutants, Six Shocking Omissions, Inside Super Eagles 28-man 2025 AFCON List

Eleven players have been handed their first-ever Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) call-up as Nigeria prepares for the 2025 edition of the tournament in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Thursday night unveiled a 28-man squad tasked with securing the country’s fourth continental title. The competition is scheduled to run from 21 December 2025 to 18 January 2026.

Among the notable newcomers are goalkeeper Amas Obasogie, defenders Igoh Ogbu and Ryan Alebiosu, as well as midfielders Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro. Forwards Akor Adams, Chidera Ejuke, Cyriel Dessers, and Salim Fago complete the list of debutants.

The squad announcement also came with notable exclusions. Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and forwards Victor Boniface and Terem Moffi are among the high-profile names missing from the list. Others omitted include Tolu Arokodare, Alhassan Yusuf, and Uche Chrisantus.
