  112 Players Vie For Honours At Maiden GSM Tennis Championship By Admin All is now set for the first edition of Governor Seyi Makinde Tennis Championship slated for Tuesday 22nd to Thursday, 24th, December, 2020. The Special Assistant to Governor Makinde on Sports development, Hon. Tobi Oyewumi made this known during a press briefing at Ibadan Recreation club, Sabo, venue of the three days Tennis Championship. According to the Governor's aide, one hundred and twelve Players would be competing in the Juniors, Pro and Super Veteran Categories of the Competition aimed at celebrating the sport loving Governor Makinde and discovering future stars. Hon. Tobi Oyewumi also said Cash prizes would be presented to winners in the Pro Category, while winners in other categories - Juniors and Super Veteran would go home with various standard prizes. Hon. Tobi, who is the organizer of the championship reiterated that the annual Championship was in line with Governor Seyi Makinde's agenda to develop sports and check youth restiveness in the state According to the Permanent Secretary, Oyo state ministry of youth and sports, Mr. Oludele Oyadeyi, the Championship would create an avenue to discover and nurture talents that will represent the state and the nation at International Competitions. Present at the press briefing were General Manager, Oyo state Sports Council, Mr. Gboyega Makinde, Director of Organisation of Oyo state Sports Council, Mr. Kehinde Ojelowo, Chairman, Oyo state Tennis Association, Mr Akin Orebiyi and Chairman, Tennis Section of Ibadan Recreation Club, Mr. Olusesi.
