It was not a sweet story for Team Nigeria in the women 100 meters final as they finished outside the medal zone.

Joy Udo Gabriel who comfortably won her Heat was in the final alongside Ivorian Mariee Jose Ta Lou, Gambia's Bass Gina and Egyptian Hemida Basant.

Ta Lou comfortably retained the title she won four years in Congo Brazzaville with a time 11.09s, Gina finished in the second position as she clocked 11.13s.

Basant of Egypt finished third (11.31s) while Nigeria Udo Gabriel ended in 4th position with a time of 11.44s.
