12th AG: We will avenge AFCON loss - Makanjuola

Ahead of the semifinal at the ongoing 12th African Games in Rabat Morocco, between Nigeria's Flying Eagles and Mali, midfielder Success Makanjuola has stated that they are ready to avenge 2019 U20 African Cup of Nations loss, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Mali defeated Nigeria in the semifinal of the 2019 U-20 African Cup of Nations in Niger Republic via penalty shootouts after the regulation time ended 1-1.

Europe bound Success Makanjuola was instrumental to Nigeria progress into the last four after helping the team secured 5 points out of the available 9 points in the group stages.

"We have moved past the celebrations for our qualification, so now we have switched to the game against Mali.

"Amongst us we have discussed and though I did not participate at the U20 AFCON, a lot of the players that did are still unhappy the team lost to Mali in the semifinal and they think a win this time will be very important and should be our target," he said.

The two teams will come face to face on Tuesday in the first Semifinal of the competition at the Stade Hassan Moulay.
