14-YEAR-OLD GODWIN OKOKO CELEBRATES VICTORY AT IBB JUNIOR OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP
The 2019 IBB Junior Open Championship has ended in style at the IBB international Golf and Country Club Abuja with 14 year old Godwin Okoko emerged overall winner.
Godwin, a young golfer with Otukpo Golf Club in Benue State grossed 144 in two days to dust other contenders in a competition that had over 100 golfers in attendance from age Seven to eighteen.
In other results, Una Ogoh won Category I Boys between age Seven to Ten years while Jeremiah John won the Category 2 Boys between age 11 to 14.
George Inalegwu was adjudged the winner of Category 3 Boys between age 15 to 18. In the Girls Category I, Peace Aduma outshined her counterparts while Chinwe Obuaya and R. Chinonye emerged the winner in Category 2 and 3.
Other winners in the night include David Ali who won Nearest to the Pin Boys award with 7.4 feet while Joy Akatu won the Girls Category with 15.5 feet. The Prize for Longest drive Boys went to Aaron Sadiq who shot 187 metres while Agbo Grace won the Girls Category having shot 167metres.
While declaring the two -days event closed, the Chairman, Board of Trustees, IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, General IBM Haruna assisted by Lady Captain Namfe Audu, the young golfers were advised to shun act capable of destroying their life The duo promised the club's support for any talented golfer who want to excel in the game
Other dignitaries at the event include the club Vice Captain, Senator Emma Anosike, Executives of the Lady section, past lady Captains, Parents as well as golfers.
Over 12 Golf Clubs attended the event
