16 Days to Go: Over 400 Athletes, Officials Prepare For Africa's Armwrestling Championships in Abuja

The countdown is officially on—just 16 days until the biggest display of strength Africa has ever witnessed! From July 23–27, 2025, Abuja will become the battleground for elite competitors during the 14th African Armwrestling Championship and the 7th Para-Armwrestling Championship, as over 400 athletes and officials from across the continent converge in the city, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Excitement is building with 20 African countries confirming their participation as they finalize travel documents, medical clearances, and logistics to arrive in Abuja in waves over the coming days.

All eyes are on Abuja, where preparations are in full swing. The Nigeria Armwrestling Federation, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Sports Development and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), is committed to providing a world-class experience for all teams—from airport reception to accommodation, transportation, and competition venues.

According to Hon. Adeboye Adeyinka, LOC Chairman and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development: “We’re expecting over 400 athletes and delegates. This isn’t just a tournament—it’s a movement. Abuja is ready to welcome the continent with open arms, and Nigeria is set to lead Africa into a new era of sporting excellence.”

With Team Nigeria officially unveiled, the championship mascot launched, and partnerships for media, logistics, and branding fully activated, Abuja 2025 is set to deliver an unforgettable display of power, unity, and continental pride.
