19th NSF: Kano, Lagos In Stiff Contest, Kwara, Benue, 12 Others Yet To Win Gold As Delta Leads By Niyi Busari Delta state continues to dominate in the 2018 national sports festival and interestingly, they are not ready to take off their feet off pedal. Delta has already garnered a total of 139 medals which consists of 69 gold, 31 Silver, 39 bronze medals with many laurels still coming their way before the end of the 19th national sports fiesta. Rivers state is in second position having won 28 gold, 30 Silver, 31 bronze medals while Edo has raked in 16 gold, 11 silver, 24 bronze to maintain the 3rd position. Kano maintained their 4th position since Day-5 with 11 gold, 13 silver, 11 bronze medals as the Centre Excellence state, Lagos followed closely and remained in 5th winning 9 gold, 15 silver, 34 bronze. Oyo followed closely in 6th with 9 gold, 11 silver and 17 bronze medals. Akwa Ibom and Bayelsa occupied the 6th and 7th position respectively. The hosts, FCT continues to drop as they have 7 gold, 3 silver and 10 bronze medals in 9th position. Abia, Osun, Ondo, Ogun, Niger, Imo are placed 10th,11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th respectively. Meanwhile, Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Kaduna, Taraba, Sokoto and Ekiti states have not won gold medal, though, they have other medals in their kitty. Interestingly, six states, Adamawa, Ebonyi, Borno, Jigawa, Katsina and Zamfara are yet to win any laurel in the 2018 national sports festival in Abuja.
