NSF: Osun bags more medals, Ekiti, Kogi others searching as Delta Leads by Tajudeen Ahmad State of Osun athletes continue their impressive performance in the ongoing 2018 National Sports Festival by winning more medals in some events. In weightlifting, Adedapo Opadeji, who competed in 69kg category won two silver medals while the pair of Saka Suraju and Lateef won a bronze medal in table tennis (double). A female debutant, Abdulrasaq Riskat bagged a gold medal in Kung-fu, defeating her colleague from Edo State. Similarly in Kungfu, Nurudeen Adebayo, Ajadi Oluwashina, Yinusa Saheed, Abdulrasaq Riskat and Dele Obaremi coasted home bronze to make it 5 medals for Osun in Kungfu in a single day. There are hopes for more medals today in games like weightlifting, where Islamiyat Yusuf and Abayomi Adeyemi will be competing, as well as in Table Tennis single where Lateef will be competing in the semi finals. Currently, Osun has won 4 gold medals (Olaitan Ibrahim in female para-powerlifting, Abdulrasaq Muftau in male para-powerlifting, Samuel olueifa in para-swimming and Abdulrasaq Riskat in Kungfu), 3 silver medals (Adedapo Opadeji in weightlifting and Titi Badmus in para-swimming). In the bronze category, Osun has 5 medals (Saka Suraju & Lateef in Table Tennis double, Nurudeen Adebayo, Ajadi Oluwashina, Yinusa Saheed and Dele Obaremi all in kungfu). Meanwhile, about 10 states including Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Jigawa, Sokoto, Adamawa and many more are yet to record a single medal as the event enters day 5. Delta state are in pole position to retain their number one seat on the log as they refused to slow down for other states to catch up with them since the commencement of the event in Abuja. Delta has won 27 gold, 9 silver and 15 bronze medals as at the time of filing this report. Rivers state are second on the log with 15 gold, 14 silver and 13 bronze medals while Kano has won 7 gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals to sit third.
