20 Countries Fight For Honour As Minifootball AFCON Draw Holds December

Not fewer than 20 countries have indicated interest in participating in the 2024 African Minifootball Nations Cup slated to hold in Johannesburg, South Africa, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The draw for the biannual championship which serves as World Cup qualifier will hold on 13th December, 2023 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Johannesburg. The twenty participating teams will be divided into four groups with five teams in each group.

The African Minifootball governing body, AMC has concluded partnership deal with SuperSports as official TV to broadcast of the draw and the Nations Cup.

This is contained in an official statement of AMC, dated 20th April and signed by the media committee which reads; "Following the letter of support of the South African government. It was agreed this morning on the date of the draw, which is December 13, 2023, at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Johannesburg, in the presence of the heads of the federations that will participate in the tournament and members of the concerned AMC committees.

"It was also agreed that 20 teams would participate in the tournament, which would be divided into 4 groups.

In addition, it was agreed that the date for the signing ceremony of the contract between the African Confederation and the South African association will be on May 5, 2023.

It added, "The global African package, SuperSport, begins with the production, distribution and live broadcast of all matches and the draw ceremony in HD and 4K quality.

Meanwhile, AMC will soon name the members of the Minifootball AFCON Organising Committee.

"On the part of the Confederation, the coming days will start by appointing members of the African Cup Organizing Committee headed by the President of the Confederation and the rest of the members, competencies from various specializations, and it is concerned with monitoring the progress of preparations for organizing the African Cup, and it will visit South Africa to inspect all arrangements for receiving the participating teams and the guests of the tournament.

Nigeria was the host of the second African Minifootball Nations Cup held in July 2021 in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria.
