Preparations are underway for activities celebrating Chief Mrs. Grace Ihonvbere's 60th birthday invitational tournament, which will take place this week at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

The tournament schedule includes a Caddies' tournament on Monday, followed by competitions for Veterans, Super Veterans, and Professionals on Friday.

The highlight will be on Saturday when Men's Divisions 1 and 2 (with handicaps of zero to twenty) and Ladies' Divisions 1 and 2 (with handicaps of zero to twenty-eight) compete for the coveted birthday trophy.

Speaking in Abuja, Chief Mrs. Grace Ihonvbere, the past Lady Captain of the prestigious IBB International Golf and Country Club, expressed her excitement about celebrating with friends and colleagues in the golf community, emphasizing her deep passion for the game.

"I started playing golf about 15 years ago and developed a strong passion for it. Because of the numerous benefits the game offers, I dedicate a significant amount of time, energy, and resources to it. This is my way of promoting the game, building sporting relationships, and showing appreciation for the goodwill and support I have received over the years," she stated.

The wife of Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, the Leader of the House of Representatives who represents the Owan Federal Constituency of Edo State in the National Assembly, reflected on her life experiences and expressed fulfillment as she approaches her 60th year.

Regarding the events planned for her 60th anniversary, Chief Mrs. Grace Ihonvbere noted that the course is prepared to host the champions who have registered to compete for various trophies and prizes.

"Many more players expressed interest in participating, but we decided to limit the number to just 200 to avoid overcrowding the course. Honestly, I wish we could accommodate more. However, for those competing on Saturday, I wish them a great day on the course," she concluded.

His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, PhD, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, is expected to perform the ceremonial tee-off on Friday.
