2010 World Cup Star Declares Interest in Golden Eaglets Coaching Role

Former Nigeria international midfielder Sani Kaita has formally applied for the position of head coach of the Golden Eaglets, expressing confidence in his ability to assemble a competitive and dynamic squad, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) recently announced vacancies across several national youth teams, inviting applications from qualified candidates.

Kaita, who is currently based in the United Kingdom, believes his playing career in Europe and recent coaching experience make him well-suited for the role.

During his professional career, Kaita featured for clubs including Sparta Rotterdam and AS Monaco, as well as teams in Russia and Greece. He also represented Nigeria at the highest level, notably appearing at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

The 38-year-old holds a UEFA B License issued by the Football Association of Wales and has been actively involved in youth development within the UK. He is currently attached to Hellenic FC, where he continues to refine his coaching philosophy.

Confirming his application, Kaita said he is ready to contribute to the growth of Nigeria’s next generation of football talent.

“I can confirm that I have applied for the U-17 coaching job. It is time for me to share my expertise and develop our youth players within a positive, high-performance environment,” he stated.

A silver medallist at both the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup and the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Kaita said his transition into coaching has been intentional and development-focused.

“I have spent the last few years working specifically with young players, focusing on player development and success,” he added. “I am confident in my ability and promise to assemble a team that Nigerians will be proud of.”
