2018 African Youth Games: Egypt, Kenya Arrive Kampala Ahead of Zones 5 Volleyball Qualifiers

By Admin The national Volleyball youth teams of Egypt and Kenya have arrived in Kampala ahead of the Zone 5 qualifiers for the 2018 Africa Youth Games. Hadija Namanda, the Chairperson of the Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) confirmed to URN on Wednesday morning that the two teams arrived on Tuesday ahead of the qualifiers slated for May 24-27 at the Lugogo Arena. She also revealed that Rwanda and Sudan pulled out because of financial challenges. “We shall now have Uganda, Kenya and Egypt competing,” added Namanda. The qualifier was initially meant to attract five nations with the winners in the boys and girls category qualifying to represent Zone V at the 3rd African Youth Games to take place in Algeria from July 17-27th . The qualifier is meant for players born on or after 1st January 2001 for boys & 1st January 2002 for girls. Uganda’s teams of boys and girls have been in camp for the last two weeks. Already the boys and girls teams of Tunisia have already qualified from Zone 1, while Cameroon boys and Girls will represent Zone IV. The Africa Youth Games will include a total of 8 teams to be determined through the zonal qualifiers.
