Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri and Egypt’s Dina Meshref are the top seeds for the men and women’s singles events at the 2018 ITTF African Championships, which begins on Friday.
In the absence of the defending champion Egypt’s Omar Assar, Quadri was named the number one seed in the men’s singles and he will start his campaign from the round of 32 after getting a bye from the first round.
Also, as the second and third seeds, Egypt’s Ahmed Saleh and Mohamed El-Beiali also got a bye to the second round.
In the women’s singles, aside from Meshref, who got a bye to the second round, Nigeria’s Funke Oshonaike was seeded number two and also had a bye to the second round.
According to the ITTF website, the men and women’s doubles events precede the start of the singles events while the semi-finals of the mixed doubles hold as well on the same day.
The players are aiming to share from the $25,000 prize money for the last four players in the remaining five events.
