19TH NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL: Team Oyo Performances Very Impressive..
The Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Oyo State, Hon Abayomi Oke, has lauded the performances of the representatives of the Pace Setter State in the ongoing 19th National Sports Festival in Abuja, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
In an interview with the media crew, the commissioner appreciated the Oyo State Government led by His Excellency, Sen Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi for his unprecedented gestures towards youth and sports development in the state.
'I will start by thanking the Executive Governor of the state,His Excellency, Sen Isiaq Abiola Ajimobi for his uncommon gestures towards youth and sports development in the state. I commend the Mr Gbenga Makinde(General Manager,Oyo State Sports Council) and the Secretary of the Oyo State Football Association,Mr Ojelowo Kehinde as well as other officials who took the team down to Abuja for their selfless and progressive attitudes. The performances of the state have been impressive so far and I hope they consolidate on these and remain among the first five at the end of the events' the commission submitted.
The record holding Yakubu Adesokan has won gold medal in the 49kg of the Para Powerlifting for the Pace Setter State while his fellow colleague,Mimo Olabode also won silver. In cycling, Joke Durogbade won silver medal while Taofeek Maya defeated his counterpart from Yobe State by 4-0 in table tennis but Suraju Ibrahim lost 2:4 to Adewale Ajiboye from Ekiti State.
