2018 NSF: We Are Hungry, Stranded - Bayelsa Athletes Cry Out By Admin Bayelsa state's athletes were left stranded in Abuja as officials abandoned them and headed to their state without their athletes, bsnsports.com.ng reports. In what seems like a national embarrassment on Sunday during the states' athletes and officials parade on the closing ceremony of the 2018 National Sports Festival, Bayelsa state athletes were seen with placard to express the ill-treatment they got during the 12-day national sports fiesta in Abuja. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Barr Solomon Dalung, some state governors as well as some ministers of the Federal Republic of Nigeria were on stand saluting the athletes and officials on the march past when they came with placards on their hands, with inscription 'we are suffering', we are stranded, we suffered, 'we are neglected, 'where is our money', 'Nigerians come to our aid' . BSN sports gathered that Bayelsa athletes were not paid their camping allowances and were left behind stranded as their state officials have returned back to the state capital while they are still languishing and lamenting in Abuja. Bayelsa finished 5th on the final medals table with 32 gold, 56 silver and 48 bronze at the 2018 national sports festival in Abuja.
