2018 Rugby league season starts Saturday

The 2018 Nigeria Rugby Football League season organized by Nigeria Rugby Football Federation will kick- off this Saturday in the Lagos Zone with four matches slated to take place at the National Institute for Sports pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere Lagos from 10am through to 6pm.
According to the Technical Director of NRFF, Ntiense Williams, who spoke with www.bansports.com.ng, "The National Rugby main season will kick off on Saturday with the 15-A-Side Rugby League in the Lagos Zone with four matches billed for Saturday at the National Institute for Sports of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos from 10am through to 6pm"
There are two league divisions in the Lagos zone and with four teams in each division.
Division 2 comprises Lagos Rfc, Eco II Rfc, Kwara Stallion Rfc & Kings College Old Boys Rfc. Whilst Division 1 have defending champions, Cowrie Rfc, Police Rfc, Gosar Rfc and Racing Rfc.
To kick-off proceedings at 10am will witness teams in Division Two as Lagos Rugby Football Club will trade tackles with the Ajegunle Bombers - Eco II Rugby Football Club.
This will be followed at 12 noon with Kwara Stalions Rugby Football Club slugging it out with the new boys on the block, Kings College Old Boys Rugby Football Club.
Last year's Champions, Cowrie Rugby Football Club will lock horns with the Police Machine Rugby Club at 2pm. While Racing Rugby Football Club will take on Gosar Rugby Football Club to round up the first league matches at 4pm.
Meanwhile, the NRFF has commended CMB Building Maintenance & Investment Co. Ltd for their continued support of the gentleman's in the country.
" We commend this company for its encouragement and support for the game of rugby in the country. And this support has indeed contributed to the growth of the gentleman's game in Nigeria," Ntiese noted.
" We call on well placed individuals and corporate bodies to come out also to support and sponsor this beautiful game, which has immense potentials and also offers a wide publicity huge mileage," the vastly experienced administrator added.
