2019 African Games: Makanjuola, Chinonso take Flying Eagles to semi final of football event

Despite picking one win in 3 matches, Nigeria's Flying Eagles has qualified for the semi final of the ongoing 12th All African Games in Rabat Morocco.

The Nigeria U20 side required a draw to progress to the next round after playing out a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso in the first match and also defeated Amajita of South Africa in their second group match.

Host Morocco started the match on the front foot and as the better side in first half which paid off early in the game.

The introduction of Makanjuola Success in the first stanza created spark in the Nigeria attack which led to a penalty but was missed by Ahmad Ghali who later scored from the rebounds.

The second half proved more difficult for Flying Eagles with Morocco dictating the play and later got penalty that was cooly converted by the Moroccan.

The introduction of Emeka Chinoso further pressed the Morrocan backward and Nigeria netted all important equalizer in the 93rd minute and ended the game 2-2.

The draw ensured Nigeria passage to the next round as they finished second behind Burkina Faso who thrashed South Africa 4 -0
